98th Tour de France: 10 victories and team prize!

The 98th Tour de France proved to be one of the most dramatic and exciting in years. Mavic riders enjoyed great success for the entire race, often winning multiple stages in a row. These three weeks in July add even more luster to a brilliant racing season so far.

The action began with Philippe Gilbert of the Omega Pharma-Lotto team winning the first stage and taking the yellow jersey with a powerful, attacking ride. Just one day later, the Garmin Cervelo team won the team time trial by only a few seconds over their biggest rivals, the HTC-Highroad team. Not only was this a great triumph for the Garmin team, it allowed world champion Thor Hushovd to wear the yellow jersey. Then on the third stage, Garmin-Cervelo success continued with Tyler Farrar's first sprint win ever in the Tour, and Hushovd retained the yellow jersey for almost the entire first week.

Gilbert's Omega Pharma-Lotto teammate Andre Greipel won a strong sprint on stage 10, earning his first Tour stage victory.  Then, Thor Hushovd won stage 13 with a daring solo attack. Only one day later, Omega Pharma-Lotto climber Jelle Vanendert took stage 14 in the mountains. On stage 16, it was Thor Hushovd again, crossing the line first after brilliant tactics. And not to be forgotten, Edvald Boasson Hagen of Team Sky also won stages 6 and stage 17, wearing yellow Zxellium shoes.

In the end, Mavic-sponsored teams managed to have victories in every type of stage: mountains, flat, and transitional. Plus, the Garmin-Cervelo team won the overall teams prize. Thanks to all the teams and riders for a tremendous effort on one of the most exciting Tours in many years!
