In the third stage, Daniele (Liquigas-Doimo-wheels) won the sprint after several attempts earlier in the week. He dedicated the victory to his former Italian team manager Franco Ballerini who died recently in a car crash. Four days later, another Mavic equipped cyclist won a stage, the talented Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky-shoes) adding one more victory to count four since the beginning of the season.
